About Our Student Visa Program

Our M1 student visa process can be understood in 4 steps:

VISA Application & Arrival in the USA

Step 1: Gather & Submit Required Documents

Depending on your educational background and the program you’re applying to, you will need to provide the following:

 

  • $200 Deposit

  • Application Form, dated and signed with copy of Passport Id

  • Copy of transcripts or degrees (Bachelor or Master)

  • TOEFL score (minimum 450 or equivalent), or IELTS (minimum 4.5), or Duolingo English Test* (minimum score 65-70) (For English Program, High School Diploma is sufficient)

  • Medical certificate (vaccinations for measles, mumps, and rubella)

  • Proof of Medical Insurance Coverage

  • Financial Requirements: 

 

Recent (< 60 days) bank statement or a letter from your bank or your sponsor’s bank if you have a sponsor (in English) showing you have sufficient funds for tuition fees and for the length of your study in New York. If you have a sponsor, they must also complete an Affidavit of Support.

 

*The Duolingo English Test is an online English proficiency test that can be taken online, on-demand, in under an hour for only $49. The test is taken via a computer with a camera and includes a proficiency score, video interview, and writing sample which are shared with BFMSNY when you send your results. Certified results are available within 48 hours of the test session.

Step 2: Sending Documents

Submit original or certified copies only. A certified copy has an original signature of the registrar or other designated school official or the institution’s seal. Include an official English translation if the document isn’t in English.

Step 3: Admission Decision

Expect to be notified of an admissions decision within 1-2 weeks from your complete application submission. Please note, student tuition must be paid in full prior to issuance of the I-20 form for the visa process.

As an approved M1 Student Visa program, BFMSNY students may arrive in New York up to 30 days prior to the start of classes, and remain in the US for up to 30 days after the programs's conclusion. During their studies, students have the opportunity to visit world-renowned attractions such as Broadway musicals, restaurants, monuments and attend the various events that are constantly hosted in our beloved city.
